Teaching for WCATY

Do you have an interest
hobby, or field of study that you would
like to share with academically talented students?

Consider becoming an instructor for a
Wisconsin Center for Academically Talented Youth (WCATY) course!

Or, are you interested in working with students and staff as for a Residental or Educational Assistant?

WCATY provides programs and services that support, motivate, and challenge academically talented students in the state. WCATY's philosophy emphasizes that rigor in the curriculum, high expectations for student achievement, and a student's personal passion for learning must work in concert if talented students are to excel academically.

Our instructors and presenters collaborate with us in providing on-site classes at our summer programs. We also offer on-line workshops that feature a combination of chats and activities. Honorariums are based on the length of the course. If you have an expertise that could be developed into a course offering, please call us or submit your idea.

Our mentors are also an important part of our programs. Occasionally we have students who would like to work on a project with an individual who has an expertise in a specific field of study. When these requests come in, we contact individuals on our mentor's list who might be able to assist with the project.

Residential or Educational Assistants work closely with both students and instructors. Educational Assistants (Summer and Saturday Programs) help the instructor carry out his/her responsibilities and offer a quality learning experience for all students. Residential Assistants (Summer Programs only) are responsible for supervising students and planning non-academic activities. Residential Assistants help develop a spirited and friendly atmosphere among students in the dormitories, lead the students in activities, and ensure adherence to safety rules and other regulations required for the students’ welfare.
